Partnership Summ’it and Living Tomorrow

Summ’it becomes the official media partner of Living Tomorrow

Our media consumption is under constant pressure to change. Driven by ever-evolving technologies, we engage with content, media, and sources differently than we did about ten years ago. The pace at which our media habits and the ways we consume media are changing is almost impossible to keep up with. However, there is one clear and consistent trend that has emerged in recent years: the centrality of the individual. When it comes to media, we want to decide what we watch and when we watch it. More and more, we are opting for an ‘on-demand’ approach to media consumption.

Since the launch of Netflix’s streaming services in 2007 and Spotify in 2006, a growing tension has developed between new players in streaming media and traditional media, which initially focused on linear content delivery. In recent years, both sectors have gradually converged, leading to the emergence of initiatives such as on-demand services, apps, and platforms like Streamz in Flanders.

It’s clear that streaming and on-demand media are still on the rise and will continue to capture an increasing share of the media consumption market in the coming years. This evolution in the media landscape is something both Summ’it and Living Tomorrow firmly believe in, and it is from this shared conviction that they have decided to collaborate.

Summ’it, the first independent Flemish and Dutch-language podcast platform, is becoming the media partner of Living Tomorrow. Together with Living Tomorrow, Summ’it will produce podcasts and offer ad- ditional content related to Living Tomorrow through its online platform and app (available for iOS and Android). Additionally, Summ’it and Living Tomorrow are committed to conducting further research in the coming years on the development of media production and consumption. There are even plans to create a “podcast studio of the future” and a “podcast academy” for students and young talent.

We believe that this collaboration between Summ’it, Living Tomorrow, and potentially other partners within the Living Tomorrow network will provide a stronger foundation for the development of podcasts and audio content in Flanders.

More about Living Tomorrow

Since 1990, Living Tomorrow has been creating projects that offer a vision of the future. The organization began as the “House of the Future” but today focuses on areas such as living, mobility, healthcare, smart buildings, and smart cities. It serves as a forward-looking research institution, a marketing and co-creation platform for companies, governments, and organizations, as well as a source of inspiration for visitors.

Living Tomorrow’s sister organization, TomorrowLab, provides consulting and services to organizations and companies in the fields of strategy, innovation, and future exploration.

The Future of Things

The collaboration between Summ’it and Living Tomorrow is marked by the relaunch of the podcast series “The Future of Things,” where Lennart Creël (host at Summ’it) and Joachim De Vos (managing partner at Living Tomorrow) explore the future on a weekly basis, delving into everyday themes. Alongside guests and experts, listeners gain insights into the near and distant future of these topics.

The podcast series is accessible and approachable, while also offering enough expertise to be informative for curious listeners.
